Job Overview:
The Electrical Designer is responsible for completing initial job set up including sheet numbering and cover sheet. Complete electrical design and drafting of plans utilizing the most recent AutoCAD software, complete electrical panel schedules utilizing established Excel spread sheets; complete weekly time sheet. Designs to be developed from engineering, design-build sales, or small projects team input. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate with department members, other Rex Moore personnel, general contractors, architects, and other members of assigned projects.

- Designs to meet electrical code requirements, including load calculations
- Successful communication with department members, other employees, and clients
- Complete lighting analysis utilizing department software
- Ability to recognize basic plan problems, including mark-up omissions or duplications
- Assist and work with other department members, offering flexibility
- Assist in development and maintenance of Design standards
- Employ and maintain good engineering practices while working closely with the Engineering Team, Construction Management and Utilities to assure design is constructible and is fully integrated into the project schedule
- Complete panel schedules
- Assist other department members
- Identify cost effective or cost saving design items

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical design and construction.
- Proficient in most recent release of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of NEC as it applies to electrical design, including over-current protection, conductor sizing, conduit fill and derating, and clearances.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of electrical drafting symbols and electrical or general construction basics
- Knowledge of electrical components, including NEMA types and sizes, and lighting.
- Knowledge of basic lighting design, including analysis for foot-candle levels
- Work within established department, utilizing established standards and support software
- Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
- Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
- Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proof-read documents to identify errors.
- Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
