Job Summary

Rexing Farms is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Egg Grading Manager to oversee egg processing operations and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. This position is responsible for system assessments, technical services, regulatory compliance, sanitation, and facility food safety for shell eggs and further processing operations.

The ideal candidate must have Diamond egg grading experience, a strong background in USDA egg grading regulations, HACCP, and food safety protocols, and the ability to lead internal and external compliance audits. Additionally, this role will include overseeing the health, welfare, and breeding of chickens to ensure optimal egg production.

Duties and Responsibilities

Egg Grading & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily egg grading and processing operations to maintain efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA and FDA regulations for egg grading and food safety.
  • Work closely with quality control teams to inspect eggs for size, weight, and defects.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and inventory levels.
  • Implement and oversee sanitation and food safety programs to ensure the facility operates under clean, safe, and wholesome conditions.

Poultry Welfare & Breeding Management

  • Oversee the health, and welfare of laying hens to ensure consistent and high-quality egg production.
  • Monitor and implement best practices for poultry care, feeding, and disease prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with UEP (United Egg Producers) guidelines and animal welfare regulations.
  • Work with veterinary professionals to ensure the health and well-being of the flock.
  • Conduct regular flock health checks and address any behavioral or environmental concerns affecting egg production.

Food Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all FSQ (Food Safety & Quality) programs are in place for the production and storage of all products.
  • Lead system assessments and implementation for food safety initiatives across operations.
  • Conduct internal and external compliance audits to meet USDA, FDA, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee sanitation procedures, regulatory compliance, and facility food safety training.
  • Lead all food safety and quality audits, including but not limited to SQF, customer, regulatory, and internal audits.
  • Identify root causes of quality issues, establish corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Train, supervise, and manage a team of 5-10 employees.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and lead food safety training for employees at all levels.
  • Work with the logistics and distribution teams to ensure proper handling and timely order fulfillment.
  • Represent Rexing Farms at industry meetings, functions, and customer visits.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must have diamond egg grading experience.
  • Knowledge of USDA grading standards, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • UEP (United Egg Producers) certification is preferred.
  • Experience leading food safety and quality audits (SQF, regulatory, and internal).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a plus.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including days, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Work Environment

  • Multiple work environments, including office, warehouse, processing, and outdoor farm settings.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and industry-specific environments.
  • Regular use of sanitation chemicals in a food production setting.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel is required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional training in food processing, agriculture, or food safety is a plus.
  • UEP certification preferred.
  • Experience in egg grading, food manufacturing, or food safety leadership is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with hands and arms.
  • Comfortable working in cooler temperatures typical in food processing environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
