What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Designer/Drafter position at RGA?
Job Description
Designers work directly with Project Managers to develop project design and documentation for specific architecture and engineering projects. Most designers will have the opportunity to follow a project through the typical progression from design through construction, although application of their talents and skills on a specific focused portion of a project will sometimes be necessary.
Typical Duties
The following duties are representative of what is typically required of Designers, although competency in additional duties beyond the scope of this list are a valued contribution to both individual professional growth as well as the overall success of the project team.
- Assist in the execution of tasks essential to the success of projects, as directed by the Project Manager.
- Assist in the project-specific research and review of codes, products, construction details, or architectural programming.
- Assist in the creation of design presentations, including conceptual diagrams, conceptual renderings, presentation graphics, and presentation materials.
- Assemble and prepare material and color boards as required during the design of a project.
- Prepare documentation as part of the schematic design, design development, or construction documentation phase of a project.
- Assist in the review and processing of submittals as part of the construction administration phase of a project.
- Design and construct physical study and/or presentation models.
Knowledge and Experience
- 1-5 years of experience preferred
- Preferred completion of a degree (associates, bachelor, certificate) in architecture, engineering, interior design, construction management, engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD preferred
- Proficiency in modeling, rendering, and graphic software preferred, including Sketchup, Lumion, Vray, 3DS Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), etc.
- Ability to communicate a working-level understanding of architectural and construction processes.
- Ability to communicate - through written, verbal, or graphic means - project-specific concepts and technical information.
- Interest and commitment to learning, professional development, and undertaking of increased responsibilities.
- Successful candidates must possess the desire to pursue growth opportunities, licensure, and actively participate in a collaborative team environment.
