Job Summary:
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing production operations, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in the manufacturing of machined components supporting multiple business segments (value streams) and customers. This leadership role involves strategic planning, process optimization, team management, and compliance with industry standards to drive operational excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: In collaboration with the Vice President and Management Team, develop and implement manufacturing strategies that support growth objectives.
- Production Management: Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring optimal productivity, efficiency, and cost control. Lead capacity-based planning, scheduling, and resource implementation to meet customer demand and business goals.
- Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives applying lean manufacturing, process standardization, documentation, training, and ensure sustainability.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Collaborate with Quality Management to ensure all products meet quality standards and requirements, drive a culture of quality and comply with industry regulations and safety requirements.
- Budget & Cost Management: Provide input for manufacturing expense budgets, control expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination: Work with materials and procurement management to ensure a seamless flow of materials through manufacturing and outside services.
- Workforce Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage production leads and staff, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
- Technology & Innovation: Stay abreast of manufacturing technologies and industry best practices to improve efficiency and output. Specify CAPEX, justification and ROI.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish KPIs, analyze operational data, and report progress to the leadership team.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and quality departments to ensure cohesive operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 10 years in manufacturing management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong ability to lead teams, improve workforce productivity, and drive company objectives.
- Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing, and industry best practices.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with budgets, cost control, and financial justification for manufacturing operations.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills to identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for working with executives, employees, suppliers, and customers.
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems, manufacturing technologies, and production management software.
Work Environment:
- Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with a mix of office and production floor responsibilities.
- May involve travel to other plant locations, supplier sites, or corporate offices.
- Requires flexibility to address operational challenges outside standard working hours.
