Summary:
The Admissions Coordinator facilitates the intake of all inpatient referrals to RHI.
This individual designs, implements and monitors efficient methods of collecting biographical and financial data required for each patient prior to admission and reviews all initial referral evaluations. They assure that all interdisciplinary team members have accurate complete information on patient prior to admission in order to initiate program services.
Essential Functions:
Admissions
- Manages and assists with completion of all functions of the Admissions office to facilitate intake of referrals to RHI Programs.
- Arranges suitable accommodation for inpatient admissions in accordance with his/her medical needs.
- Supports the Clinical Liaisons to ensure efficient and accurate referral follow-up and data retrieval in support of the inpatient referral process and to ensure support of liaisons' business and census development activities.
- Communicates medical information on inpatients referred for inpatient services to the physiatrist to facilitate admission process and ensures continuity of medical care. Assures appropriate cases are identified and referred to Utilization Review in a timely and efficient manner. Assures information flow between the Care Coordination Team and Clinical Liaisons relative to needs for additional information for admission approvals.

Registration
- Accepts incoming Inpatient referrals, reviews for completeness, and communicates with referral source for corrections according to procedures.
- Obtains applicable medical documentation as needed.
- Provides patient and/or family with overview of services to be provided. Aligns customer expectations with service delivery considerations.
- Ensures all supporting documentation is uploaded in to Cerner before admission.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor or Associate degree in related field (Equivalent certification or experience considered)
- Current Valid Indiana license or certification if incumbent is clinical
- Rehabilitation experience and/or health care admissions experience preferred
- Strong clinical background and/or certification preferred
- Experience in a health care environment working with insurance verification, registration, scheduling, and/or patient access desired
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm
