Overview
rhi is seeking a Cost Estimator to join our professional services consultancy team in Perth.
You'll be joining a proven and trusted brand working with clients on some of the world’s largest and most complex projects in the energy sector. Varied scopes across offshore and onshore oil, gas and petrochemical projects as well as clean energy and civil infrastructure projects through all phases.
This is a full-time staff role with major benefits - Start date Aug/Sept 2024
Responsibilities
This role will suit someone from a solid QS background or an Engineer who has transitioned into cost engineering, specifically in the resources sector in Australia.
Typical duties:
- Cost estimate experience on offshore and onshore oil, gas and petrochemical projects as well as clean energy and civil infrastructure projects through all phases.
- Understanding and experience of the AACE cost estimating recommended practice and classification system, in particular at Class 5, 4 and 3.
- Experience in both top-down and bottoms-up estimating methodologies depending on the stage of project.
- Preparation of invitations to tender and schedules of prices for construction contracts.
- Develop schedules of rates and associated preambles for unit rate contracts.
- Develop bills of quantities, including detailed take-offs, for internal check estimates and bid evaluations.
- Excellent Microsoft software suite skillset, particular Excel and Word
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, engineering or related field is a must.
- RICS and/or AIQS qualified is preferred.
Highly regarded:
- Experience in a specialist consultancy/engineering company with ideally 5 years in estimating, or from a project engineer background who has transitioned into a Cost Engineer/Estimator function
- Familiar engaging and presenting to clients across major resource and energy scopes.
- Experience using cost estimating systems such as CostX, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) or similar
- Post-contract administration including detailed measurement of IFC/AFC drawings and subsequent agreement with fabrication and construction contractors.
