As the Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the food manufacturing processes, including equipment, utilities, facility, and the supporting work instructions for production to achieve the planned capacity, safety, and quality targets. In this role, you will partner with operations, maintenance, R&D, safety & quality teams as well as external partners, OEMs, and contractors to lead continuous improvement activities for both production and the facility operation that focus on run rates, yield, efficiency, quality and safety in our food production environment.

What you’ll accomplish:

• Develop and implement strategies to improve production processes, including equipment utilization, material flow, and labor efficiency, with a focus on maximizing output while minimizing costs. 
• Create parts from concept through implementation including designing, coordinating, fabricating, testing, etc.
• Represent Engineering in cross-functional project groups for the purpose of food safety, and new product development along with other initiatives.
• Ensure Operations & Maintenance teams are fully equipped to integrate new equipment into an existing food processing facility. This includes planning and execution of an appropriate commissioning, qualification, and verification plan for commercialization and the requisite training, documentation, spare parts, and vendor support.
• Coordinate and oversee third-party service to equipment and the facility, from recurring service/PM activities to large-scale construction projects.
• Improve production processes by leading projects and efficiency improvements focused on the reduction of waste, including labor savings and materials scrap. 
• Lead equipment improvement activities with vendors to solve recurring issues in the facility or production spaces.
• Utilize key performance indicators and more specific measures of equipment and process reliability, yield/scrap, and efficiency to identify priorities for improvement, trends requiring attention, and verification of the effectiveness of changes and corrective actions. 
• Work comfortably in a manufacturing environment to collect data, implement trials, and assist in training.
• Take primary responsibility for preparing business case analyses on improvement opportunities, project budgets, cost tracking, and successful execution.
• Complete and maintain up-to-date certifications and training as required, including safety protocols, chemical handling, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• May perform a variety of tasks which directly contribute to Rhino Foods but may not directly relate to the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.  

Requirements

What you'll need to succeed: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 years experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably food production.
• Expert in Microsoft Office Suites, Smartsheet, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.
• Experience in data collection through Tableau, BAS, CMMS, IBA, RedZone, Intelex & Nectari
• Experience with Mechanical system designs, builds, fit-ups, fabrication methods, and final assemblies, with a focus on GD&Ts. 
• Experience with Zero-Failure methodologies, ability to reverse engineer and improve existing systems. 
• Experienced project manager, with the ability to design and plan major equipment, process, and facility projects using IPECC, DMAIC, and PDCA methods.

Flexibility is essential in Rhino’s ability to respond to short-term demands and ensure smooth operations during busy times. You may be required to work outside normal business hours, nights, weekends, or at another Rhino location in order to meet business needs.
