As a Distribution Team Leader, you will lead our Rhino Foods Distribution Center (RFDC) crew. You will be the “go-to” team member to keep this fast-paced team running smoothly and effectively. You will be lead our shippers and receiving team, warehouse associates, and contract truck drivers to ensure products reach our customers and 3rd party logistics on time and in full. In this role you will also be a strategic partner with RFDC leadership in providing input on continuous improvement and projects.
What you’ll accomplish:
- Coordinate and monitor all assigned shipping and receiving, shuttle, warehouse, and cross dock operations.
- Plan shift staffing needs for shipping and receiving and warehouse associates with the distribution supervisor that will allow RFDC to support production.
- Support the distribution team in problem-solving related to complex issues, escalating concerns to the DC supervisor.
- Support the DC leadership in communicating job expectations, prioritization, shift plan and organization of the team.
- Support the creation of an environment that holds the RFDC team accountable and allows for individuals to excel and progress in their roles.
- Provide feedback and documentation of employee performance to the DC supervisor.
- Assist the RFDC Supervisor and Logistics Manager by advising on thoughtful measurements of the team’s performance by participating in the Individual Contribution Review process.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, other RFDC Team Leaders, and the Distribution Supervisor to ensure that all raw ingredients are in place for the week’s production.
- Adhere to and ensure the RFDC team’s compliance with established company, OSHA, and health and safety standards and procedures.
- Lead the training of the shipping and receiving team members according to establish procedures. Additionally, you will participate in development and upkeep of trainings, ensuring training remains current.
- When staffing levels require, provide backup for the shipping and receiving team, performing those duties in support of warehouse and production effectiveness.
- Provide support and input on strategy and projects related to shipping and receiving.
- Utilize email, Microsoft applications, and other internal software for daily communication between facilities, shifts, and departments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
- Participate in the daily Master Sanitation program.
- Participate in department, team, and company meetings.
- Perform other assigned duties which directly contribute to Rhino Foods objectives.
Requirements
What you’ll need to succeed:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years experience in food manufacturing and or warehousing.
- 3 years experience operating a forklift.
- Ability to follow up on task assignments and delegation to employees.
- Ability to support others in following written and verbal instructions and safety requirements.
- Ability to work as a respectful member within a collaborative team.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in group and individual settings.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, make decisions, support others under pressure and know when to escalate more complex problems.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and a commitment to maintaining product quality.
- Ability to utilize a computer to effectively communicate and document information based on established practice.
- Ability to organize and lead a group of people to reliably achieve goals.

Flexibility is essential in Rhino’s ability to respond to short-term demands and ensure smooth operations during busy times. You may be involved in voluntary overtime or temporary assignments that result in extended shifts, weekends shifts, work completed on a different shift or at another Rhino location based on business needs.
