The Human Resources Assistant facilitates the workers compensation process, supports HR operations, and drives workplace
safety and training initiatives. This role ensures regulatory compliance, manages claims resolution, and collaborates with HR and
Legal teams to maintain consistent employee relations.
Focusing on safety and employee well-being, the Assistant develops training programs, addresses urgent employee relations
issues, and enhances workers compensation and safety programs. Additionally, the role supports onboarding processes and
fosters a culture of safety, ethics, and engagement across the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, excellent communication and problem-
solving skills, and the ability to manage relationships with employees, management, insurance providers, and legal teams. This
position plays a key role in advancing both workers compensation management and the overall employee relations strategy.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the entire workers compensation process, including initial reporting, claims handling, and resolution, while acting as the primary point of contact for employees with questions or concerns.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses to insurance carriers and regulatory bodies, including OSHA reporting requirements.
- Liaise with employees, medical providers, and insurance adjusters to ensure proper documentation, accommodations, and a safe return-to-work process.
- Track and analyze workers compensation claims, identifying trends, and recommending strategies to reduce incidents and improve workplace safety.
- Develop and monitor the effectiveness of return-to-work programs, providing regular updates to management and proposing improvements as needed.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, such as EEO-1 reports, affirmative action plans, and compliance reviews.
- Assist with creating and implementing initiatives to enhance workplace safety and foster a culture of employee well-being.
- Independently manage complex HR-related issues, escalating only the most critical matters to senior staff.
- Compile information and represent the organization in unemployment and other HR-related hearings.
- Support the HR departments overall goals, including assisting with benefits administration, recruiting efforts, onboarding and ensuring smooth workflow across processes.
Qualifications/Skill Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 2 years related work experience handling workers compensation, conflict resolution or employee relations investigations
- Experience working in the television broadcast industry is preferred
- Certification in HR or SHRM Certification is preferred
Compensation DOE
Salary : $50,000 - $58,000
