Position Summary
Tidewater Stadium is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager of Grounds and Conversions to oversee the maintenance, preparation, and transition of the stadium playing surface and facilities for both soccer matches and non-soccer events. This role is responsible for ensuring the field meets professional soccer standards while also efficiently converting the stadium for concerts, corporate events, and other entertainment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and experienced in turf management and stadium conversions.
Key Responsibilities
Field and Grounds Management
- Maintain the stadium’s playing surface to meet professional sport standards, including turf maintenance, line painting, line removal, and
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for the playing surface.
- Oversee soil testing, fertilization, pest management, and landscaping programs.
- Ensure compliance with league and FIFA regulations regarding pitch conditions.
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers for turf maintenance equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Work with Director of Operations to ensure the field is prepared for third party events and stadium rentals.
- Manages the stadium snow removal plan including field, concourse, and parking lots.
- Develop the grounds budget for field and landscape maintenance in the venue.
Stadium Conversions
- Oversee the planning and execution of stadium conversions for non-soccer events, including concerts, corporate gatherings, and community events.
- Develop and manage efficient changeover processes to minimize downtime between events.
- Coordinate with event organizers, stadium operations staff, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless transitions.
- Maintain conversion equipment and ensure proper storage and inventory of conversion materials.
General Stadium Operations Support
- Assist with snow and weather-related field and stadium maintenance.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and stored correctly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Work closely with stadium operations, event management, and security teams to support overall venue operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 3 years of experience in groundskeeping, turf management, or stadium conversions, preferably in a professional or collegiate sports setting.
- Experience with synthetic turf management preferred.
- Strong knowledge of turf maintenance, irrigation systems, and field painting techniques.
- Experience in stadium changeovers and event setup logistics.
- Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping and conversion equipment.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience managing teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
