The RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (RIDE) is actively recruiting for the position of Coordinator, Child Nutrition Programs. This position will lead and manage all of our child nutrition efforts to ensure our youth have access to nutritious foods within a safe and supportive school environment. This position will be responsible for ensuring that LEAs and sponsors are supported by RIDE while we collectively work to meet the USDA nutrition requirements for schools and community-based sponsors. This position is part of a new and dynamic Office of School Health and Wellness at RIDE.
DEPARTMENT OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATIONNON-CLASSIFIED JOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Coordinator, Child Nutrition ProgramsGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for developing, leading and implementing all aspects of coordinated child nutrition programs on the state and district levels to ensure that Rhode Island students will be healthy and ready to learn, and to ensure the maximization of federal and state school food services funding.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of a manager with wide latitude to exercise independent judgement. Work is subject to review on a periodic basis or upon completion for results achieved and for adherence to professional standards of conduct.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Generally, None. May work as part of teams and in collaboration with others. Responsible for the coordination of work for assigned staff.
May be involved in providing input to the performance management process as a peer or colleague as appropriate.ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leads and manages the administering, monitoring and training/technical assistance for federal child nutrition programs.Leads and manages the administering of the fiscal and data management functions for child nutrition programs.Manages and coordinates the preparation of and timely submission of federal and state reports.Develops, leads and implements project management functions relating to child nutrition programs.Conducts program and fiscal analysis for projections and program revisions, and/or to provide information to legislative committees, districts, state agencies, legislators and the general public.Collaborates with other department offices and other agencys initiatives focused on ensuring that children receive the support necessary to be healthy, active and successful learners.Represents the department on advisory councils, work teams, task forces or groups, as needed. Performs related work as assigned.
