Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated TBM/MTBM Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair tunnel boring machines (TBM) and micro-tunnel boring machines (MTBM). The mechanic will ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime by performing preventive maintenance and addressing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in a fast-paced tunneling environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on TBM/MTBM equipment, including hydraulic systems, cutting heads, and conveyors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged components to restore machine functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs completed.
- Work closely with operators and supervisors to address equipment issues and optimize performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines during all repair and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a mechanic working on heavy machinery, preferably TBM or MTBM equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in industrial equipment.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering diagrams.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in mechanics preferred.
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces and lifting heavy components.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with specific TBM/MTBM brands and their maintenance requirements.
- Experience in underground construction or tunneling projects.
