Description
Ricardo Defense is seeking an experienced Buyer located in our Troy, MI facility. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Buyer with primary responsible for managing the overall sourcing activities around indirect projects. The Buyer will also support the purchasing team in the procurement of direct materials and services during times of need. This position must be adept at working directly with suppliers as well as internal customers on a day-to-day basis, in support of the goals and objectives of the Purchasing department.
The Buyer will plan, negotiate, and manage the execution of sourcing for all products and services that support the indirect company requirements. while ensuring the materials and or services are procured through the optimal combination of lead time, price, and service level. The Buyer will manage the requisition process, develop purchase orders, and ensure on-time deliveries from suppliers. This position requires extensive intra-departmental and cross-functional collaboration to be successful as it supports the entire organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all company purchasing policies and procedures.
- Manage supplier relationships and provide feedback to suppliers regarding performance.
- Work closely with suppliers and/or internal customers to negotiate and drive to a collaborative result.
- Review purchase requisitions/requirements and obtain quotes from suppliers for non-inventory items or services.
- Develop new or improve existing processes that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with the finance team to meet budget requirements.
- Maintain relevant system information such as vendor level master data for the department.
- Proactively identify and fill supply base gaps.
- Drive and complete cost savings initiatives.
- Maintain required documentation for areas of responsibility.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC). The minimum requirement to obtain a Security clearance is United States Citizenship. Applicants that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
- A minimum of five to eight years of experience in purchasing, primarily within indirect commodities including facilities support. Materials experience a plus.
- Excellent PC skills including Power Point, Word and Excel.
- Experience in supplier negotiations and developing best fit solutions.
- Experience in developing process improvements and change implementation.
- Willingness to collaborate and drive issues to resolution.
- Strong organizing, prioritizing, communication, written and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of best practice processes.
- Customer focused, consistently placing the customer as a top priority.

Salary : $83,000 - $93,500
