Description

Ricardo Defense, Inc. (RDI) is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Senior Director of Business Development to drive the growth and expansion of our U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Sustainment, Technical Services, Digital Logistics, and Solutions Products businesses.

As a key leader within our organization, the successful Senior Director of Business Development candidate will develop and execute strategic initiatives to capture new opportunities, foster long-term customer relationships, and position RDI as a trusted partner to the DoD.

This is a unique opportunity for a results-driven professional with deep industry expertise, a proven track record of business development success, and a passion for delivering creative solutions that support the mission-critical needs of our nation’s warfighters.

The Senior Director of Business Development position has promotion potential for successful performance.

We are accepting remote applicants for this position, however, frequent visits to our Troy, MI office will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of business development strategies to expand RDI’s presence within the DoD sector.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business development professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability aligned with RDI’s Core Values.
  • Assess industry trends, funding priorities, and competitive landscapes to drive focused pursuits in RDI’s target markets.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities aligned with RDI’s strategic focus areas and maintained within a CRM tool that is used on a daily basis.
  • Build a robust opportunity pipeline that supports order intake, revenue, and growth targets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with DoD stakeholders, including military branches, acquisition program offices, sustainment directorates, science & technology organizations, and end-users.
  • Seek and develop relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and other strategic partners.
  • Represent RDI in meetings, conferences, and industry events to promote our capabilities and solutions.
  • Work closely with the capture management team to transition qualified opportunities into actionable pursuits and winning proposals.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Software, and Program Delivery organizations to match customer needs with company capabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards, company policies, and federal acquisition regulations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), and United States Government Security Clearance if needed. The minimum requirement to obtain a Secret Clearance is United States Citizenship. Only candidates that meet this requirement will be considered.
  • A Minimum of 15 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the Department of Defense sector, with a focus on pursuing and capturing DOD contracts.
  • Prior military experience preferred, but not required.
  • A demonstrated track record of building a successful qualified opportunity pipeline and transitioning leads into captured awards.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with DoD stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes, policies, and requirements.
  • Experience working within a CRM tool, such as Salesforce, on a regular basis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
