Rice Companies is looking for a General Manager to lead the team at our Cedar Falls, IA, location. The General Manager is responsible for providing operational leadership for their location, including management of their location’s P&L, budgets, daily activities, and project teams. The General Manager partners with the Business Development Manager, Project Managers, and other Company leaders to formulate operational and business development strategies, establish goals and implement solutions.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for financial management of location, recognizing business opportunities and putting together bids to win new business as well as negotiating and agreeing contracts.
- Works to build and strengthen new relationships in the market; understands current relationships and maximizing opportunities with existing clients.
- Continuously works to strategically expand, preserve, or improve procedures, standards or policies whilst sticking to regulatory guidelines.
- Develops, implements, and executes a strategic business plan including achievement of assigned metrics such as those related to financial forecasts and client satisfaction.
- Actively involved with local business organizations and community service organizations to promote a positive public image of the company and nurture business relationships.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, new technologies, and market conditions relevant to the division and industry.
- Coordinates with other locations and senior business leaders to identify and discuss common issues.
- Overall responsibility for construction job costs and ensuring customer satisfaction and team commitment to company values and quality.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating performance and productivity of employees.
- Coach, encourage, motivate, and teach others within the organization, and utilize employee recognition and motivation techniques as best suites individual employees.
- May perform activities relative to the management and execution of construction projects within the location.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of demonstrated, relatable experience.
- Four (4) year construction management, marketing, engineering finance or related degree preferred.
- Timberline/Sage 300 Estimating and Procore software experience a plus
- PEMB (pre-engineered metal buildings) and/or Agricultural Construction experience a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong sales, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of construction projects and processes
- Strong business development skills and experience in account management
