Engineering Technician Duties & Responsibilities
You would be responsible for:
- Supporting the design engineering team by building prototypes, maintaining test fixtures for hardware /software development, and testing product performance
- Supporting the electronics manufacturing area by maintaining test fixtures for the production line and our contract PCBA manufacturers, debugging test fixture problems, and evaluating failed products
- Providing second tier customer support by evaluating returned product, contacting customer to discuss problems the technical support group cannot handle, and travel to customer sites to evaluate problems
- Providing support to Marketing by setting up and testing trade show display setups
You’ll also need to be able to:
- Have excellent customer service skills including patience, phone skills, and the ability to explain technical examples
- Be knowledgeable about Networking and Ethernet
- Understand USB, RS-232, RS485 interfaces
- Understand wireless communications such as WiFi and Bluetooth
- Read schematics, have good problem-solving skills, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and be able to compose technical writing
- Use electronic test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, and power supplies
- Have knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Seek out training or research to understand technical concepts, topics, industry practices and product information as necessary
- Proofread and edit a variety of documentation and internally produced materials
- Support custom documentation requirements for all product lines in accordance with established company standards for content, presentation and speed to market
- Support the company’s presence on the website with copy and product positioning
Requirements
- Qualified candidates at least an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or a related field
- Or three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with electronic circuit boards and software/firmware testing
This position requires on-site presence at our Corporate Headquarters in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
