Position Summary
The College Coordinator serves as the administrative lead for Lovett College, one of eleven undergraduate residential colleges at Rice University. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless day-to-day operations of the college. The College Coordinator works closely with the Lovett College magister(s), reporting directly to the college magister with a secondary reporting line to the assistant dean. Responsibilities include managing Lovett College’s office, overseeing the college budget, and actively contributing to the planning and executing college-wide events and programming.

The Lovett College Coordinator fosters a safe and welcoming environment for students and core team members. This position oversees daily college operations, monitors multiple budgets, and coordinates events throughout the year. The ideal candidate is well-organized, adept at implementing administrative processes, tracking expenses, and proficient in using spreadsheets. Strong communication skills and experience mentoring students and college core team members on administrative processes are essential. As a self-starter, the Coordinator will provide guidance and support to students without direct management responsibilities.
Workplace Requirements
This is a full-time, on-site position at Rice University, with all duties performed in person. Per Rice Policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range
$43,000 - $45,000 annually, contingent upon experience and qualifications.
This is an exempt (salaried) position under the FLSA and is not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- In lieu of a degree, additional related experience beyond the required amount may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience: At least one year in a business office or university department setting
- Additional related education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Functions
- Supports the department’s mission, vision, and goals
- Assists in the development, planning, and implementation of programming and outreach for student leaders and the campus community
- Coordinates leadership development programming for student leaders
- Manages logistics and marketing related to area responsibilities
- Administers daily business and administrative activities of the college
- Assists in budget management and monitors expenditures, serving as the HCM Administrator for student accounts and a delegate for magister expenses
- Provides guidance to students on a range of issues, helping them make informed decisions and directing them to appropriate university resources
- Regularly documents and assesses functional areas for improvement
- Contributes to the development of marketing materials, programming activities, outreach initiatives, events, and fundraising efforts
- Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
- Manages the college office, including receiving, processing, and distributing mail
- Guides student leaders to develop independence in an experiential learning environment
- Assists the college magisters and core team with crisis management, including student well-being concerns, inclement weather, and college functions
- Collaborates with the college magister, student leadership, and Housing & Dining to facilitate the college housing process
