Position Summary
The Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an NIH-funded postdoctoral position to begin in summer/fall 2025 (start date flexible). The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be involved in an R01-funded study from NIA investigating biobehavioral mechanisms of smartphone-based cognitive emotion regulation training in unpaid primary caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Salary: $52,000
In addition to an annual salary of $52,000, the fellowship provides office space, and access to research and travel funds up to $1,500 per year.
Essential Functions
- Documents, analyzes, and maintains research data, particularly including heart rate variability (HRV) and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) multilevel data
- Publishes and presents research findings
- Designs and implements research protocols; adapts new procedures, methods or instrumentation relative to research procedures
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions / Information
- Will also have mentorship toward the development and submission of career enhancement and training awards (e.g., F32 NRSA)
- Ability to mentor, oversee, and/or train junior research team members
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications Requirements
- Doctoral degree (by time of position start) in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field, with expertise and publication history in affective science, psychophysiology, social cognitive neuroscience, and/or psychoneuroimmunology

Skills Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as oral presentation skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Writes scholarly papers based on ongoing research and submits them to journals for publication
- Able to work in a collaborative environment
- Able to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision and direction
- Experience with linear mixed effects models and multilevel data analysis
Preferences
- Knowledge of ecological momentary assessment (EMA) research methods, data collection and analyses
- Knowledge of heart rate variability assessment and data analysis
