Job Description
Riceland Food’s, Inc. is hiring a Compliance & Training Manger for the Northern Drier District. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating all training within the Drier Division that is related to safety and compliance to federal and state laws, and to ensure that compliance is met in all areas of OSHA regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Communicate with Federal and State safety regulatory agencies to obtain information pertaining to safety laws, standards, policies, rules, practices, procedures, and accident statistics, and pass the information on to individual Drier locations.- Serve on the Riceland Corporate Safety Committee.
- Develop and revise as necessary the Corporate Safety policies and procedures.
- Investigate all incidents and develop ways to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain safety resource material for the benefit and use 0f all employees.
- Authorize the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Prepare and conduct Annual Training in OSHA, Federal, State, and Riceland policies, regulations, etc. for employees at all Drier Locations.
- Conduct annual Safety/Sanitation Audits at all locations and report findings to upper mgt.
- Track all Workers Comp claims and ensure those claims are legitimate and treated fairly.
- Fill out OSHA 300 logs for all locations (as accidents occur) and ensure that all required reports and documentation has been completed.
- Complete OSHA 300 Summary forms annually for air Drier locations, Commodity Operations, Appraisal Office, CO Trucking and distribute for posting.
- Prepare and make presentations twice annually to Drier Managers and Bookkeepers, and Upper Management, concerning Safety and Audit information.
- Register all locations for GEAPS Safety Awards, annually.
- Send in OSHA logs to GEAPS for those locations with no Lost Time accidents annually.
- Inspect and load test all endless belt man lifts (42) in the Division annually.
- Coordinate 5-year load tests on all cage elevators in the Division.
- Follow up on semi-annual Cage Lift Inspection reports from Dept. of Labor.
- Coordinate Pesticide License renewal, and re-certification, annually.
- Conduct annual CPR training for approximately 125 employees.
- Conduct First Aid Training every 3 years.
- Maintain certification with Medic First Aid as an Instructor/Trainer.
- Coordinate Driver’s License checks with Insurance Co. and the State and keeps an updated list.
- Conduct Telehandler Training (every 3 years)
- Coordinate Safety Incentive programs and distribute awards annually.
- Fill out and send in Dept. of Labor random Surveys as required.
- Coordinate annual hearing tests.
- Perform Security Inspections at least annually at all locations, and report.
- Fill in management positions in the absence of managers in emergency situations as directed.
- Track special projects as instructed (pit magnets, standpipes, aerial photos, etc.)
- Track and follow up on recommendations from our Property Insurance Carriers.
- Track safety meeting minutes, and other required documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university and four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 12-18 months of management experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Pesticide Applicator’s License, certified instructor for the American Red Cross, Weighing/Grading License, Driver’s License.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Regular contacts with department directors, district managers, bookkeepers/clerks, all hourly employees, Human Resources, corporate nurse, board of directors, Vice President of Commodity Operations, and other departments as needed.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Regular contacts with Department of labor representatives, OSHA, electrical and manlift contractors, property and Worker’s Compensation insurance carrier representatives, and others as needed.
USE OF EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, various associated software programs and standard office equipment. Proficient in the use of all associated equipment and programmable controllers.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
