Senior Accountant

A dynamic, global energy and trading company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This position will play a key role in the financial close process, technical accounting, and derivatives reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of IFRS, strong general ledger expertise, and experience supporting audits and internal reporting in a fast-paced, multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in accordance with IFRS, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Reconcile and validate derivative transactions, mark-to-market valuations, and support hedge accounting.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support internal management and HQ reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure smooth reporting cycles.
• Drive process improvements across general ledger operations and financial reporting workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
• 5 years of direct accounting experience, with exposure to commodity trading or retail power operations a plus.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, including IFRS 9 and hedge accounting principles.
• Experience with NetSuite, Allegro, and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, large dataset analysis).
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and across cultures.
• Public accounting background preferred but not required.

Additional Info:

• Office-based role with occasional late hours to coordinate with international HQ.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
