A dynamic, global energy and trading company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This position will play a key role in the financial close process, technical accounting, and derivatives reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of IFRS, strong general ledger expertise, and experience supporting audits and internal reporting in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in accordance with IFRS, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Reconcile and validate derivative transactions, mark-to-market valuations, and support hedge accounting.
- Review balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support internal management and HQ reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure smooth reporting cycles.
- Drive process improvements across general ledger operations and financial reporting workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 5 years of direct accounting experience, with exposure to commodity trading or retail power operations a plus.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, including IFRS 9 and hedge accounting principles.
- Experience with NetSuite, Allegro, and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, large dataset analysis).
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and across cultures.
- Public accounting background preferred but not required.
