Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Fabrication Shop Employee to assist in the production of steel parts and assemblies. This role requires hands-on work with a variety of metal fabrication tools and equipment, along with a strong focus on safety and quality control. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in reading blueprints, measuring materials, and working with machinery such as press brakes, shears, and bandsaws, as well as operating a forklift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate fabrication machinery and tools, including press brakes, shears, bandsaws, and forklifts, and metal punching equipment to create high-quality products according to specifications.
- Accurately measure, cut, and shape steel ensuring precision in all dimensions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine project specifications.
- Identify various types and grades of steel and other metals by size, shape, and composition.
- produce parts and materials with attention to detail and alignment to meet quality standards.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials within the shop.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are in proper working order.
- Follow safety protocols, wear protective equipment, and always maintain a safety-first culture.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience cutting and coping handrails and guardrails is a plus.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery, including press brakes, shears, bandsaws, and forklifts.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders with a focus on precision and accuracy.
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, and shaping steel parts to tight tolerances.
- Experience identifying various types and grades of steel based on size, shape, and composition.
- Forklift certification or previous experience operating a forklift is required.
- Knowledge of welding and other fabrication techniques is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards throughout the fabrication process.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Physical Demands
This position requires employees to be able to lift up to 75 lbs. safely. This position requires employees to stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete documentation required for the position. Employee must be able to use hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position also requires walking, bending, reaching and standing.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch as scheduled with management. This position may require hours beyond the standard working hours listed above to satisfy job duties and department demand. Weekend availability is required for this position.
