Transportation Manager

Richelieu Foods, Inc., a Freiberger Group Company, is a leading supplier of high-quality food products to the private label and food service industries. The company has locations across the Midwest with three manufacturing centers that produce frozen & deli pizza, and pizza crusts.

The Transportation Manager position will support the ongoing management of our transportation network aimed to deliver current needs while supporting the delivery of the company’s strategic growth plan. This role will be responsible for inbound, outbound and dedicated fleet operations throughout our network. This position reports to our Sr. Director of Supply Chain.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains and refines a transportation strategy that aligns to the company’s strategic growth plan delivering on cost, quality and service objectives.
• Responsible for evolving the design of our transportation network while balancing market considerations, customer requirements and internal needs.

• Management and oversight of outsourced partners including Transportation Management System (TMS) provider and carrier network
• Ensure TMS provider delivers on expectations for quality of service, network optimization/redesign, carrier sourcing/management, freight payment/audit/controls, claim management, and KPI achievement.

• Ensure annual and ongoing carrier sourcing initiatives are completed to deliver quality service at best possible price.
• Implement controls to ensure TMS maintains carrier contracts, driver safety, and DOT regulations
• Manage escalated service concerns as needed
• Establish, measure and maintain standards and expectations for on-time delivery between customers, carriers and our TMS
• Manage results from KPI scorecard in partnership with TMS, measuring key operational deliverables identified in the 3PL service agreement

• Responsible for all transportation-related costs across our carrier network.
• Works closely with the Logistics Team, Customer Service and Director of Supply Chain to deliver on customer needs.
• Participates in planning, development, implementation & evaluation of strategic business and performance goals.
• Communicates clear metrics and targets to measure improvement.
• Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce costs and improve material flow.
  • Develops methods to execute approved programs to deliver savings within company quality and safety standards.

• Ensures compliance with all food regulatory requirements, and ensure adherence to food safety and GMP's.
• Ensure that all goods and services are acquired in accordance with the RFI’s current purchasing policies and procedures
• Develops SOP’s in accordance with internal controls, as defined by Finance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of current supply chain management techniques and processes.
• Demonstrated vendor management experience with transportation carriers across both ambient (dry trailer) and cold (food) supply chain(s)
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, communication, and networking skills are required
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and strong leadership skills
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams/initiatives
• Problem solving and decision-making capabilities; strong analytical skills
• Ability to perform monthly/quarterly operations, financial and vendor business review

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience with progressive responsibilities in a manufacturing environment with experience in transportation
• General understanding of financial and budget management with experience in managing functional areas
• Good working knowledge and experience with WMS systems essential

Universal Pay Verbiage:

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation for this role is between $100,000 and $120,000. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
