Job Description
Plan, prepare, implement, teach, and evaluate classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and serve as academic advisor for students. Participate in program development and evaluation. Participate on other college committees and activities as needed.
Teach thirty (30) equated hours per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters combined) in accordance with the RCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Participates in course development, implementation, and evaluation that is consistent with the program’s philosophy, objectives, and conceptual framework by:

Participates in course development, implementation, and evaluation that is consistent with the program’s philosophy, objectives, and conceptual framework by:
- Formulation course goals and objectives for each class and clinical.
- Organizing and recommending course content.
- Recommending teaching methods.
- Recommending textbook and other teaching materials.
- Planning classroom and clinical assignments.
- Creating examinations.
- Conducting classroom instruction using other methods of instruction, in addition to lecture.
- Providing feedback to students regarding their performance within a reasonable period of time.
Provides current, organized classroom and clinical instruction utilizing sound comprehensive knowledge of general nursing subjects, theories of learning, and appropriate teaching strategies.
Supervises and evaluates student learning in the clinical, laboratory, and classroom environments.
Cooperates and collaborates with the clinical site’s staff, peers in nursing, and other college divisions to meet students’ learning needs and objectives.
Provides a climate for students that is conducive for learning.
Fosters productive working relationships between the college and health agencies and between college and public while interpreting philosophy, students outcomes, policies, and procedures to agencies personnel, clients, students, and the public.
Coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a course or learning level.
Serves on college and/or division committees.
Assists in development of program policies regarding admission, selection, evaluation, and retention of students.
Informs Dean of Allied Health Professions of student problems/issues.
Assists with recruitment and admission procedures, when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s of Science with a major in Nursing and valid Illinois Registered Nurse License is required.
- Two years experience in clinical nursing practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maternal/Child, Mental Health, and/or Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
- Two years teaching experience.
Physical Demands
Must be able to:
- Complete 8 to 10-hour clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare settings.
- Operate standard office equipment such as phone and computer on a frequent basis.
- Receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.
- Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines.
- Occasional irregular hours and travel.
Salary
Salary range: $44,738-$95,241 per year
