General Description :
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analytic services to both exceptional and general education staff in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and / or other behavioral disorders in the least restrictive environment, as well as provides direct services to students as needed. The BCBA conducts assessments, develops intervention plans, and provides division-wide support and training regarding behavior intervention techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supports the development and implementation of programs and best practices related to instruction using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) for students with autism and other disabilities
- Provides programmatic BCBA coaching support to staff, as needed, in general education, exceptional education, autism, and alternative programs including one-on-one support and group professional development
- Collaborates with other school-based professionals (school psychologists, counselors, etc.) to provide a system of support for students in need of tiered intervention
- Collaborates with and supports instructional staff in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) are designed to promote student's educational, physical, and / or social-emotional development to access the general education curriculum
- Works directly with students who present complex and challenging behaviors that require Tier III support
- Assists with the implementation of positive behavior supports, response to intervention multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), or other systemic change programs
- Assists staff with the implementation of behavior plans, ABA programs, and other appropriate programs for students with Autism and / or other disabilities that present behavior / learning challenges
- Administers and assists with assessments including the Virginia Essentialized Standards of Learning (VESOL) (i.e.VAAP)
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by keeping current with the literature and new research findings
- Performs related duties as assigned
