Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Day Habilitation Services, the Day Program Manager oversees the development and implementation of Day Programs, incorporating individualized learning goals and recreational activities. This role supervises Day Program Supervisors and trains Day Program Aides and Transportation Aides on the effective execution of Individual Habilitation Plans (IHP). The Manager ensures program quality, monitors progress, develops behavioral plans, and upholds Richmond’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight
Manage the operation of the Day Program in Mount Kisco.
Ensure high-quality service delivery through effective supervision of clinical and habilitation staff.
Stay current on trends in the field, incorporating Positive Strategies and Person-Centered Planning approaches.
Create and maintain therapeutic milieu.
Staff Training & Supervision
Train, monitor, and coach staff in implementing IHPs and achieving program objectives.
Hire, evaluate, and manage staff performance, administering discipline and fostering development as needed.
Conduct conflict resolution and mediation.
Participant Support
Facilitate and review IHPs, including scheduling meetings, writing reports, and communicating outcomes to staff and families.
Develop and implement behavioral programs, evaluate outcomes, and adjust as necessary.
Community Integration
Develop community inclusion activities that align with participants’ goals.
Serve as a liaison to establish vocational and recreational opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance
Prepare for program surveys and ensure compliance with all standards.
Maintain accurate and professional records of participants and program activities.
Prepare and review rehabilitation documentation.
Safety & Logistics
Maintain safe, well-equipped facilities and ensure compliance with fire and safety regulations.
Oversee participant transportation, ensuring timeliness and safety.
Incident Management
Investigate and document incidents promptly, notifying appropriate parties and implementing corrective actions.
Financial Management
Monitor program expenses and process requisitions in line with budgetary guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience in the field.
Knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavioral supports required.
Trauma based counseling skills required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Valid NY State driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Successful completion of required training : medication administration, CPR, and SCIP.
