ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The Essential Job Functions are:
- Arrive at office location(s) on time, adhering to scheduled shift and unlocking office doors for patients.
- Greet and check-in patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Request proper documents and ID cards and scan them into EHR.
- Initiate or complete the patient registration process.
- Collect and update patient information including personal details/demographics and medical history.
- Schedule and confirm new & follow-up patient appointments, both in person and over the phone.
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with insurance claims processing, including prior authorizations.
- Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of information.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and assist all medical office peers as needed.
- Handle patient payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborate and communicate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient operations.
- Manage and complete all relevant and assigned tasks in EHR.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of college are preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a medical office or similar administrative role is preferred.
- Proficient in using IT software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of medical scheduling systems (e.g., gGastro, Epic, Athena) is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is beneficial.
- Knowledge of insurance carrier requirements and proper coding procedures is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient privacy.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work well under pressure with a diverse group of professionals and physicians.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, which may include frequent interruptions.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences within the team and community.
- Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, reaching, and the ability to push or pull items weighing 30 pounds or less.
- Required to operate a laptop, wireless keyboard, mouse, monitor, scanner, etc.

Pay: $15.50 - $18.50 per hour
