What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Supervisor (Private Practice) position at Richmond Heart and Vascular Associates?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Billing Supervisor will process and track claims, ensure accuracy and timeliness in the billing process, and provide excellent customer service to both patients and providers. This role requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate with internal teams to address insurance and billing issues
· Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and payments
· Ensures proper billing and collection procedures are followed and documented
· Work and identify credit balances
· Run billing related reports, as required (zero pay, credit balances, manager holds, missing slips, etc.)
· Understand coding rules and schemes to detect potential claim errors. Consult with coders on the accounts in question.
· Coordinate with Billing Director to ensure effective billing and front desk collections process.
· Ensure that payments (cash, check and credit card) are posted promptly
· Ensure that claims processed improperly are corrected and re-filed in a timely manner
· Balance daily receipts and deposit daily
· Manage denials/appeals processes
· Responsible for training and leading other Billing department staff, as needed
· All other miscellaneous duties as assigned
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
· Five or more years of experience in medical billing, collections, and insurance claims processing
· Knowledge of billing regulations for payors such as Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, HMO’s, and PPO’s
· Knowledge of patient privacy rights and maintains complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, and all other sensitive information
· Knowledge of basic insurance policy information, procedures, and reimbursement practices with Medicare coding
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Athena experience preferred but not required
· Able to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
· Knowledge of CPT medical coding, billing terminology, and ICD-10
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong math and computer skills

Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
