This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the bank's commercial lending activities, including Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending. The Director of Commercial Lending will ensure the bank achieves its growth, profitability, and portfolio diversification objectives while maintaining the highest standards of credit quality and community engagement

Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the bank's commercial lending strategy in alignment with its premium pricing model and community-centric mission.
- Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to grow the C&I and CRE portfolios while balancing risk.
- Collaborate with the executive team to set and achieve loan growth, revenue, and profitability targets.
- Monitor market trends to identify growth opportunities while maintaining risk management and compliance standards.
Loan Production and Business Development
Identify and distribute opportunities to the lending team as well as personally originate new C&I and CRE loans by discovering and nurturing relationships with high-value business clients.Build and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities to meet or exceed loan production goals.Collaborate with the leadership team to design and implement strategies for attracting new commercial clients.Cross-sell banking products, including treasury management and deposit solutions, to deepen client relationships.Portfolio Management
Oversee the commercial loan portfolio, ensuring strong asset performance, diversification, and compliance with regulatory standards.Partner with the Finance team to implement pricing strategies that reinforce the bank's value proposition and drive profitability.Lead initiatives to diversify the portfolio with a focus on Commercial & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate, Agriculture / Farm and small business loans.Balance growth with profitability by developing pricing strategies that reflect the bank's premium value proposition.Monitor portfolio performance, including delinquency and risk metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.Work with the credit team to resolve complex loan issues and maintain high credit quality.Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing commercial lending team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.Set clear performance goals, providing guidance and resources to meet and exceed objectives.Promote professional development and encourage cross-functional collaboration to enhance team capabilities.Lead by example, demonstrating strong business development and relationship management skills.Community Engagement
Serve as a visible and active leader in the community, cultivating relationships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders.Collaborate with marketing and retail teams to deliver lending solutions tailored to community needs.Represent the bank at events, forums, and networking opportunities to strengthen its community presence.Be familiar with and active in Central Ohio business communities.Operational Excellence
Ensure all commercial lending activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.Streamline processes to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and operational effectiveness.Collaborate with credit administration, compliance, and operations teams to maintain smooth workflows and mitigate risk.Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related degree required.
