What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Engineering Drafter position at Rick Engineering?
Assists engineers and designers to complete projects on time by drafting various plans and exhibits using MicroStation.
Helps to ensure work product represents a high standard of professional quality by developing accurate and consistent drawings.
Maintains quality control as outlined in the Rick Engineering Company Quality Control and CAD Standards and Procedures Manuals.
Assists in the successful operation of the design team by developing an understanding of Civil Engineering concepts and terminology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or the equivalent with technical training in mechanical drawing or engineering drafting.
Requires computer knowledge and familiarity with Windows technology.
Demonstrates knowledge of design techniques, basic MicroStation graphic commands, and the tools and principles associated with producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
Demonstrates knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words and the rules of composition and grammar.
Demonstrates working knowledge of mathematical principles and their applications, as well as, how to use a calculator and math to determine scales, curve radius and stationing.
Implements Rick Engineering Company CAD Standards and Procedures in finished work product.
Applies general rules to specific problems, produce answers that make sense, learn from mistakes, take and maintain notes when learning new procedures.
Provides information to supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email and in person, as well as, work as a team and readily accept job assignments.
Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
Listens to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Creates electronic plots at various scales, digitize drawings and topography for Intergraph input as well as perform freehand lettering according to acceptable engineering standards.
Accepts and responds appropriately to constructive feedback.
Produces quality and accuracy in finished work product, checks own work independently, plots elevations accurately in profiles, traces accurately and compensates for stretch as well as creates geometrically correct digital files.
Demonstrates proficiency with highway curves, eradicators, keeps pens working, etc.; understands reference files and associated use; shows the ability to do reductions and enlargements on copies; reads and uses scales, protractors and triangles.
