Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and PO processing.
- Properly load and secure packages and mail in the van/truck.
- Pick up mail and packages from customer stops/areas.
- Deliver mail and packages to the correct delivery points.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Conduct pre and post-trip reviews to ensure the vehicle is safe, clean, and compliant with all DOT and state laws.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Pre-call customers when applicable.
- Provide strong customer service.
- Identify customer needs and determine appropriate action; refer calls to the appropriate party.
- Maintain professional dress appearance as per site dress code.
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed.
- Load/off-load trucks as needed.
- Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Meet productivity/quality standards as outlined by the manager.
- Operate and use warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Assist with training new delivery drivers on current routes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Safe driving record and history.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
- Maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with company policy.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card required.
- At least 20 years of age, properly licensed in the current state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Valid commercial driver's license required if applicable per state.
- Ability to read maps and electronic GPS.
- Physically handle oversized and overweight packages.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and make quick corrections.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with and ability to learn smartphones and tablets with handheld electronic technology.
- Adequate reading, math skills, and ability to write legibly.
- Certification on the operation and use of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and stair climbers, may be required.
- Working conditions could result in serious injuries if appropriate lifting or moving procedures and rules of the road are not followed.
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required to service equipment at floor level.
- Physical effort is required in lifting mail/packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend, and apply complex material, data, and instructions; prepare, provide, and convey diversified information.
- Typically, a variety of conditions, including office, warehouse, and van/truck environments with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
- Ability to work independently.
