Primary purpose of this position:

Service and maintain steam and hot water boiler heating systems, including repair and/or replacement of heating system components.

Specific Job Duties:

• Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes
• Stick & TIG welding
• Inspect and repair automatic control mechanisms and water columns, and auxiliary machines such as pumps, draft fans stokers and burners
• Replace safety valves and regulators
• Perform preventive maintenance; clean boilers and auxiliary equipment using scrapers, wire brush and cleaning solvent
• Replace damaged boiler tubes and plates
• Solder copper piping when completing pipe repairs
• Repair or replace high pressure piping using power tools, gas torch and welding equipment

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work on a team and interact with people
• Punctual and regular attendance
• Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
• Working knowledge of applicable boiler codes
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Must have the ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays
• Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be a high school or trade school graduate or have a GED
• Two years’ experience in pipefitting, fabricating, pump alignment and boiler operation
• Experience pipe welding to code is preferred
• Ability to obtain welding certification
