Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare financial reporting packages, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, bank account reconciliations, accruals, and inter-company transactions to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Perform quarterly financial analysis of budget variances and provide recommendations to leadership for financial improvements.
- Prepare year-end tax work papers and submit to tax accountants for compliance and reporting.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
- Create and administer the annual budget process, collaborating with leadership and project teams to ensure financial goals are met.
- Monitor and analyze job costs, labor expenses, and material costs to ensure profitability.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to support strategic decision-making.
- Responsible for year-end reconciliation of operating expenses
Cash Flow & Compliance Management
- Manage company cash flow, ensuring liquidity for ongoing projects and operational expenses.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific financial regulations.
- Work with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as needed.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Evaluate and improve financial processes and reporting systems.
- Oversee financial software and ERP systems, ensuring accurate data management.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership for continuous business growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in construction, subcontracting, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction accounting software.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Procore, or other industry-related financial tools.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
