What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Admissions position at Ridgeview Behavioral Hospital?
The Admissions Director is a member of the multidisciplinary team, who is directly involved in providing quality care for patients within the therapeutic milieu. The Admission Director is responsible for overseeing Admissions Specialist to ensure the implementation of the admissions policies and procedures and managing contacts with utilization reviewers and case managers. He/she is also responsible for working with the admissions and facility staff to assure exceptional patient and community satisfaction. The Admissions Director works within the facilities policies and procedures and in accordance with the standards of the State and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates and schedules prospective client screenings.
2. Responsible for obtaining demographic and financial information during inquiry calls.
3. Provides direction, task assignment, supervision, inspection and monitoring of the staff and Admissions staff.
4. Communicates and deals effectively with patients, co-workers, medical staff and other healthcare providers.
5. Forwards financial coverage information to billing unit; verifying insurance information as necessary.
6. Maintains the Inquiry Call Disposition Log and follows up accordingly.
7. Responsible for mailing program literature when requested.
8. Ensures the clinical and financial screening criteria have been met prior to admission.
9. Obtains necessary consents, identifications and financial documents needed to admit client into the program.
10. Provides community awareness education and in-services on behalf of facility as assigned.
11. Complies with facility policies and procedures.
12. Participates in all staff meetings; responsible for obtaining information if not in attendance.
13. Approaches clients/family members, significant others, and visitors with a respectful caring manner to convey a sense of concern and warmth.
14. Maintains confidentiality of client information and records; and of facility proprietary, privileged, and/or confidential information.
15. Communicates and problem solves via the chain of command.
16. Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner, sensitive to client and staff diversity.
17. Completes daily tasks as assigned and documents the delivery of all client services.
18. Maintains acceptable overall attendance.
19. Promotes a favorable/positive work atmosphere.
20. Attends in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
21. Maintains a log of potential admissions (waiting list).
22. Conducts client pre-admission screening process.
23. Conducts Intake Assessment and complete the admission process.
24. Assigns client appointments for medical and other appointments in accordance with treatment center guidelines.
25. Improves data collection system and provide statistical and profile data on clients.
26. Secures and transmits all required documents and correspondence relating to clients to the appropriate sources.
27. Maintains all records and statistical information.
28. Responds to incoming telephone inquiries and initiate follow-up communications.
29. Act as a prime source of information for referral agencies, court contact and the general public.
30. Supervises the coordination of admissions to inpatient and partial programs, involving all related departments.
31. Facilitates referrals to outpatient treatment services.
32. Supervises the maintenance/balance and running Daily Census Reports.
33. Works collaboratively with Admissions Specialist, Business Office and other staff to coordinate insurance verification and financial arrangement including collection of fees.
34. Creates and implements consents and financial documents needed to admit the patient into the program.
35. Records and disseminates information (i.e. memos, meeting agendas, etc.)
36. Performs other duties as assigned.
