Purpose of Job
In this hands-on role, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for hiring, training and leading a team of purchasing professionals focused on providing value and excellent customer service to Ridgeview Medical Center's staff, patients and business partners. The Purchasing Manager will provide operational support, oversight and guidance to ensure maximum accuracy, efficiency and productivity in Ridgeview's procurement activities. The Purchasing Manager is a detail oriented individual who takes leadership and collaboration seriously.
Job Functions
- Provides leadership and oversight for procurement activities within Materials Management. Supports the department director through development of programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organizations overall strategic plan and initiatives.
- Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Promotes teamwork and collaboration within the Materials Management department.
- Manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget for Purchasing, Materials Management. Supports department director in quality improvement efforts and service delivery that contributes to the overall success and financial viability of Materials Management.
- Reviews and monitors applicable policies and procedures. As assigned, ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards.
- May participate on organizational committees and serve as a trusted resource for departments utilizing supply chain services. May represent Materials Management and Ridgeview Medical Center in community outreach including participation on committees and in doing presentations.
- Proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and opportunities through observation, data analysis, engagement with partners, review of external impact factors and best practices, as well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of business relationships with vendors and partners, pertinent to the procurement activities at Ridgeview Medical Center. This would include acting as the owner of Ridgeview’s vendor management policies, processes and management tools.
- Ensures data integrity related to contract pricing and item file management is maintained at the highest level. Data management tools and solutions will be evaluated and leveraged to ensure Ridgeview's data is accurate.
- Acts as Materials Managements Information System (MMIS) owner. This will include overseeing system updates, testing, engaging technical resources and resolving problems when issues arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or post-secondary combined with equivalent experience
- Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience with progressive managing responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous healthcare related experience
- Preview experience working with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO's)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
- Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
- Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers
- Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing change
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
