Job Posting - Special Education Paraprofessional (Elementary)
Part-Time or Full-Time
Classification:
Support Staff / Full or Part Time (20-37 hours a week) / Non-Exempt
Days and hours to be determined based on availability and need of the District
Grade Level: Elementary
Responsibilities:
To assist and support the special education teacher and program for high-needs and regular special education students. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting the students within their classroom and outside of the classroom, daily documentation, supplementing students’ IEP’s, and assisting teachers. There may be additional responsibilities working one-on-one with high-needs special education students caring for their physical and emotional health, and safety while affirming their abilities striving to promote dignity in all relationships; Works with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class, implements behavior management plans and provides behavior support which includes management, personal care (assisting with toileting and/or diapering and feeding) and social integration.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification (required once hired)
- Flexible
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to support students at all grade levels
Preferred:
- Experience as a paraprofessional and/or experience with special education students
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Highly Qualified (must have an Associate’s degree or higher or can become HQ by taking a Paraprofessional Assessment once hired)
- Basic technology skills (Microsoft Office Applications, email)
Start Date: At Once
Work Schedule:
7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Days based on availability and need
9-month position (as per School Calendar)
Salary/Benefits:
$17.00-18.15/hour depending on qualification and education
Possible High Needs stipend of $2,400 year available for full time employee, prorated for part-time.
