Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Technician - Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at VA Togus Maine Healthcare. In this role, you will be responsible for performing patient phlebotomy procedures in various settings, ensuring proper specimen handling, and maintaining professionalism while providing patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform patient phlebotomy, including inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), STAT, ASAP, and timed draws
Ensure proper sample processing and preparation for send-out
Verify patient and specimen identification, document accurate patient information, and address any collection, processing, or testing issues
Maintain professionalism and patient-centered care to ensure a high-quality experience
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience
Training & Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) / Basic Life Support (BLS) (renewable every two years, 4 hours)
VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness (1 hour annually)
VHA Privacy and HIPAA Focused Training (1 hour annually)
Vaccinations:
Proof of negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA)
Proof of immunization for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis
Annual Influenza vaccine
Full COVID-19 vaccination (exemptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis)
Other Requirements:
Must be technically proficient, fluent in English, and meet all VA educational and mandatory training courses
