What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Riggs Industries?
Riggs Industries is seeking a project manager who will plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of the designated project to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The manager will perform the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various project phases.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Confers with project staff to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
- Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modified schedules or plans as required.
- Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
- Ensures the safety of all personnel involved in the project.
- Understands and completes change orders, as necessary.
- Works to always ensure client satisfaction during the project.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manages 3-5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20-50 employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and ensuring safety.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should know the accounting software; Explorer Internet software; Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software, and Word Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- PMP designation preferred

- Frequent travel to project location as necessary, required to spend considerable time on site.
