Right Path Behavioral Health Services is currently hiring for a Community Support Counselor.

POSITION TITLE: Community Support Counselor
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Community Support Supervisor, the Community support Counselor provides needed services and assistance to clients, in a group setting and/or individual basis. The Community Support Counselor help clients with life skills training and provide emotional support. The Community Support Counselor also documents the time spent with each client on a daily basis.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aids clients in their own homes/program and in the community to teach skills to function safely and independently.
- Identifies social, economic, recreational and educational services in the community that will support the clients’ in meeting their treatment plan goals.
- Recognizes potential crisis and emergency situations, analyzes situations accurately, and develops strategies to deal with such situations i.e. dealing with client’s aggressive behavior to ensure no harm comes to the client, staff and/or the public.
- Develop Treatment plans, Treatment plan reviews, Fars and C-Fars for each client in accordance with Medicaid and agency standards.
- Document client progress through DAP notes in electronic filing system.
- Submit completed DAP notes within the allotted schedule set forth by the agency.
- Provides emotional support and feedback to clients and their families as needed.
- Models positive behavior for client to strive towards.
- Attends weekly meetings as scheduled with supervisor on time.
- Produce the designated number of billable per week set forth by the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- A Bachelors’ degree in a Human Services field, from an accredited college/university or be a certified Behavioral Health Technician
- At least one year experience in mental health or related field
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Must be eligible for Level 2 DCF Background Screening approval.
- Must be able to provide own transportation.
- A valid Florida driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must be available and willing to travel to clients
- Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.
- Good computer skills

- Ability to interact with people from diverse cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to set appropriate boundaries
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with other service providers and program clients
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local social service and public assistance programs
