Description:

Grants Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of a strategic approach and plan aimed at achieving measurable revenue targets, developing, and enhancing partnerships with other funders, and achieving desired impact within the community. This position is comprised of three major areas of responsibility: grant administration to meet grant specific goals, research, and writing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grants Manager reports directly to the Director of Grants Development.
  • Is responsible for the monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting requirements for assigned grants.
  • Researchers and identifies prospective funders including Foundations, Local, State & Federal grant opportunities, to support current and prospective programs.
  • Meets grant reporting deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Inputs grant information into date base (Donor Perfect) to ensure accurate information about funders giving history, areas of interest, progress of work plans and on time delivery of all materials needed through the entire grant cycle.
  • Evaluates and manages grants proposals and pledges through Donor Perfect. Including but not limited to entering pledges, tracking grants income, maintaining grant funder files, and recognizing contributions.
  • Tracks, writes, and submits grant funded program reports with support from related program staff (Director of Program Services) to ensure compliance of grant deliverables and funding requirements.
  • Assists with budget development and formatting of proposals to meet agency requirements and guidelines.
  • Assists with special projects in Resource Development including but not limited to special events. This includes occasional evening and weekend events.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must have excellent written communication skills with the ability to transform ideas into text. Knowledgeable in finance and accounting.
  • Familiarity with programs and processes of primary granting agencies, including federal agencies as well as corporate and private sponsors.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in non profit 
  • Thorough knowledge of recreation and youth development theory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to set priorities and to work comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions with diverse staff.
  • Ability to manage complex system of funding sources and content.
  • Ability to perform research and organize information.
  • Knowledge of mechanics of grant proposal submission.
  • Proficiency with relevant technology (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Internet tools, etc.)
  • Knowledge of standard written English, including correct grammar and spelling.
  • Knowledge of fields of childhood and youth development.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 
  • Required experience can range from 3-5 years of related experience. 
  • Master’s degree in a related field is sometimes preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in an office environment.
  • Usually work a standard workweek.
  • May be required to work additional hours or different time schedule.
