Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Trauma Registrar to join our healthcare team. The Trauma Registrar plays a critical role in the management of trauma data, ensuring accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of trauma-related information. This position requires a strong understanding of medical records, health information management, and coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving patient outcomes through meticulous data management and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and maintain trauma patient records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze trauma data for trends and patterns to assist in quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilize medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge to accurately code trauma cases.
- Enter data into databases and maintain the integrity of the trauma registry.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to gather necessary information for reporting purposes.
- Prepare reports for internal use as well as for state and national trauma databases.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to trauma data collection and reporting.
- Participate in ongoing education to stay current with best practices in health information management.
Qualifications
- Strong background in medical records or health information management is required.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
- Experience with data management and analysis techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems is necessary.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are critical for success in this role.
- Prior experience working with databases or trauma registries is a plus.
