Job Summary: CNC Programmer Supervisor
We are looking for a highly skilled CNC Programmer with supervisory experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs, ensuring efficient production processes, and leading a team of machinists and operators. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, programming proficiency, and leadership skills to meet production goals while maintaining high-quality standards. Foundry experience a plus.
Key Responsibilities: CNC Programmer Supervisor
CNC Programming:
- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for machining parts using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
- Translate technical drawings, blueprints, and models into precise CNC instructions.
- Select and specify appropriate tools, materials, and cutting parameters.
- Troubleshoot programming and machining issues to ensure smooth production.
- Implement continuous improvements to reduce cycle times, waste, and tooling costs.
Supervisory Duties:
- Lead and manage a team of CNC operators and machinists, providing guidance and technical support.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to ensure production schedules are met.
- Train and mentor team members in programming, machining techniques, and safety protocols.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the quality control team to inspect and verify machined parts meet required tolerances and specifications.
- Identify and address quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setup instructions, and tooling requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in CNC programming, tooling, and machining technology.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to optimize workflows and resolve challenges.
Qualifications: CNC Programmer Supervisor
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 experience in CNC programming.
- At least 3 in a supervisory or leadership role.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code).
- Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
- Experience with multi-axis machining centers (e.g., 3-axis, 5-axis).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles is a plus.
Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong decision-making and time-management capabilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
