Job Description:
- Quality Control Management: Oversee the development and implementation of the Quality Control Plan (QCP) as per USACE standards in which all work meets or exceeds project specifications and contractual requirements
- Daily Inspections: Oversee the daily quality control operations, including material testing, compliance checks, and site inspections, ensuring construction activities are performed in compliance with approved plans, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Meetings: Administer the Three-Phase Quality Control System, conducting preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements. Conduct bi weekly progress meetings at the site and on Teams. Provide detailed minutes of all meetings and provide agendas for all meetings at minimum 24 hours prior to hosting.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken. Prepare daily QC reports, including photographic documentation, and submit them to project management and the USACE. Assist the Project Manager when asked to ensure all submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs meet project specifications and USACE guidelines, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to address any discrepancies.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Assist the Project Team in monitoring subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. Coordinate with subcontractors to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable environmental, safety, and quality regulations. Conduct regular audits to verify compliance with USACE standards and project specifications
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all quality-related matters on the site. Liaise with the USACE representatives, project management, and subcontractors to address any quality concerns
- Problem Resolution: Identify, document, and resolve any non-conformities or quality-related issues that arise during the course of the project. Implement corrective actions as necessary
- Training: Provide training and guidance to on-site personnel regarding quality control procedures, documentation requirements, and compliance with USACE standards
- Financials: Assist the Project Manager when asked with payment applications. Discuss/Review with the USACE QA on site for approval.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control management on large-scale construction projects. Preferably USACE Projects.
- Education: Degree in Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Certifications: Must possess relevant quality control certifications, such as Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certification by the USACE.
- Required: Knowledge of the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) is Mandatory.
- Preferred: Proficiency in surveying and use of survey equipment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on proactive quality management.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a challenging, water-based construction environment with a commitment to staying on-site in Wilmington, North Carolina for the remaining duration of the project.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions, navigate uneven terrain, and perform tasks that may require physical exertion.
