Summary:
A growing Design-Build Mechanical Contractor is seeking a Mechanical Designer for a full-time, on-site position in Downey, CA area. The Mechanical Designer will work on exciting and challenging projects under the guidance of top mechanical engineers in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This role involves preparing design documents, performing calculations, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare 2D and 3D construction documents for HVAC and plumbing systems using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Perform design calculations and system selections under engineer supervision.
- Calculate building loads using energy modeling software such as Energy Pro.
- Coordinate project timelines and deadlines with the Project Manager.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, business codes, and building regulations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer, specializing in HVAC, Mechanical systems, Duct Work, plumbing design, controls, and hydronics.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to create biddable construction documents and complete design calculations.
- Knowledge of commercial, retrofit, educational, and municipal construction.
- Familiarity with commonly used building codes.
- Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- 2 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (highly preferred but not required).
- Progress toward or possession of certifications such as EIT, PE License, or LEED AP is a Plus, but not required
Additional Information:
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000-$120,000 annually, based on qualifications, with opportunities for biannual bonuses.
