The Superintendent plays a pivotal role in managing and directing the day-to-day operations of construction projects at the job site. This position is responsible for ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. The Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager throughout all phases of construction, assisting with skilled tasks ranging from carpentry to reporting and project coordination. Success in this role requires strong leadership, hands-on involvement, and the ability to manage personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders effectively.
Responsibilities:
Champion and enforce job site safety protocols, promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability
Coordinate project activities, including regular meetings with subcontractors, vendors, owners, and internal teams
Collaborate with the Project Manager to manage project budgets, schedules, labor, materials, and equipment
Prepare and update detailed project schedules, review construction documents, and submit clear, well-written RFIs
Maintain thorough and accurate daily logs and documentation
Review project plans and specifications, ensuring clarity and constructability in collaboration with engineers
Required Skills & Competencies:
Solid understanding of commercial construction methods and practices
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders
Experience leading preconstruction meetings and on-site coordination sessions
Ability to develop and execute logistics plans and oversee field operations
Familiarity with construction layout tools, including laser levels, DT-30, and Total Station
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Proficient in MS Office, Procore, and Bluebeam
Experience using construction software including Revit, Assemble, and Primavera P6
Skilled in interpreting and working from digital and printed blueprints
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education & Experience:
Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered)
OSHA 30 certification (or willing to obtain within six months of hire)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role
Proven background in structural concrete and wood framing on commercial construction projects ranging from $25K to $50M across various sectors (e.g., multifamily, mixed-use, education, civic, office)
Valid driver’s license required
