Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Construction Project Manager with proven experience managing DSA-regulated school construction projects, particularly those within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of public agency procedures, educational facility planning, and the unique challenges of working in active school environments.
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of K–12 modernization and new construction projects—from preconstruction through closeout—ensuring that all phases are completed on time, within scope, and in full compliance with DSA and LAUSD standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of school construction projects including planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling, and execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact between clients (LAUSD and other educational agencies), architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Develop project schedules and ensure adherence to DSA and LAUSD timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation using standard construction management platforms (e.g., Procore).
Coordinate closely with site superintendents to ensure field operations align with project goals and safety standards.
Attend and lead regular progress meetings with stakeholders including school personnel, DSA inspectors, and district representatives.
Oversee project cost controls, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring budget alignment and financial transparency.
Ensure compliance with California public works requirements, labor laws, and DSA regulations.
Manage closeout documentation, DSA closeout processes, and project turnover to the client.
Qualifications
5–10 years of progressive experience in construction management with a focus on DSA and LAUSD school projects.
Proven track record managing both modernization and ground-up school construction projects.
Strong understanding of Title 24, DSA codes, LAUSD standards, and California public procurement processes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills for navigating complex stakeholder environments.
Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
Experience coordinating with local municipalities, utility providers, and environmental consultants.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (required)
OSHA 30 Certification (required)
LEED Accreditation (preferred)
PMP or CCM Certification (a plus)
Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record
