Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Construction Superintendent with a strong background in DSA-regulated construction and school projects, primarily within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The ideal candidate will be well-versed in public works protocols, possess excellent leadership skills, and demonstrate a deep understanding of safety, compliance, and quality assurance on educational construction sites.
This is a key role responsible for managing the day-to-day on-site construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with DSA and LAUSD standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all field operations on K-12 public school construction and modernization projects.
Ensure strict compliance with DSA regulations, LAUSD specifications, and project documentation.
Serve as the primary on-site liaison between project management, subcontractors, inspectors, and school administrators.
Maintain and update construction schedules to align with project milestones and client expectations.
Lead and document daily site meetings, safety briefings, and progress updates.
Manage jurisdictional inspections, including those conducted by DSA inspectors and third-party consultants.
Monitor work quality and enforce adherence to project plans, specs, and safety protocols.
Identify and resolve field issues in real-time to avoid project delays.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.
Support project closeout procedures, including final inspections, commissioning, and turnover.
Qualifications
Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Superintendent on DSA and/or LAUSD school construction projects.
Proven knowledge of Title 24, DSA guidelines, and California public works standards.
Experience with school modernization, new classroom construction, campus utility upgrades, and interim housing installations.
Strong communication and coordination skills to manage school staff, inspectors, and multiple subcontractors.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, civil, and MEP drawings.
Experience using construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or similar platforms).
Demonstrated leadership in implementing and maintaining site safety programs.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or GED (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred)
OSHA 30 Certification (required)
DSA Inspector Certification or familiarity with DSA documentation (preferred)
Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record
