Barge Service Technician Level II

Rio Marine Inc. began in 1929 as a marine electrical service group in Houston TX. Since then, we have grown to include engineering, manufacturing, design and service of marine equipment. With a service group of 135 strong, a support group of another 50 which include electrical and mechanical engineers to a management group with a wealth of knowledge and a diversity of it. Rio marine Consolidated carries approximately $3.5mil in inventory and has a coverage of the east coast, gulf coast and upriver we can cover the majority all our customers’ needs and geography.


Service Tech Level 2 (technician)
- Expected experience minimum 2 years- Expected pay range is $22-$26


1. Troubleshooting basic electrical circuits

2. Motor starters and start/stops

3. Must know how to use multi-meter/ amp meter/ megger

4. Terminate most common types of electrical equipment

5. Read one line drawings

6. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to pumps

7. Supervise and train tech level 3

8. Assist in managing projects as assigned

9. On-call for a (7) seven day period

10. Travel occasionally for the company to work at other locations

11. Follow all of Rio Marine’s safety and operational policies


Qualifications:

1. Education

1. High School diploma or equivalent

2. Physical

1. Ability to lift and carry 50lbs for extended distances

2. Ability to work in any and all adverse weather conditions

3. Ability to climb ladders, stairs and gangways up to 25 feet in height

4. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and work above head for extended periods of time

5. Ability to operate Rio Marine vehicles in a safe and courteous manner

3. Personal Background

1. Must be capable of acquiring valid TWIC

2. Must have valid driver’s license

3. Must have clean driving record with no DWI convictions

4. Must pass a criminal background check

5. Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test

4. Practical Experience

1. Previous experience in electrical service industry

2. Good communications skills

3. Professional manner in dealing with other employees, management and customers

4. Organizational Skills

4. Employee will be eligible to participate in the Rio Marine, Inc. employee medical benefits program. Further program details will be explained during your new-hire orientation. Rio Marine, Inc. contributes 75% of the employee’s portion of the company offered health insurance. Eligible after (30) days of full-time employment. Your participation in these programs is contingent upon your timely enrollment and meeting eligibility criteria.

a. The company offers Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance. The company pays 100% of the monthly premium for a $25K life and $25K AD&D policy for each employee (with the option to buy additional insurance).

b. The company pays 75% of the monthly premium for Medical and Dental. The Short Term Disability insurance is voluntary but offered at a discounted rate for employees.

5. Employee will be eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Plan after six (6) months of employment following your date of hire.
