Job Description

Our Mission

At Palo Alto Networks’ everything starts and ends with our mission: Being the cybersecurity partner of choice, protecting our digital way of life.

We have the vision of a world where each day is safer and more secure than the one before. These aren’t easy goals to accomplish – but we’re not here for easy. We’re here for better. We are a company built on the foundation of challenging and disrupting the way things are done, and we’re looking for innovators who are as committed to shaping the future of cybersecurity as we are.

The Team

The Public Policy and Government Affairs team is focused on tackling complex global issues, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, for the good of the company and the broader global cybersecurity ecosystem. We're looking for an enthusiastic graduate student with a passion for global policy issues and an ambition to build a longterm career in the field. This isn't just any internship, you'll make an impact and play a real part in the success of Palo Alto Networks.

Your Career

We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join the Public Policy and Government Affairs. This team leads Palo Alto Networks engagement with government globally - building strategic and operational relationships, conducting policy advocacy, and enabling strategic business opportunities. As a global policy analyst intern, you will assist in the tracking and analysis of a broad range of cybersecurity and technology laws, policies and regulations the team tracks globally. You will also assist in the execution of our advocacy strategy tied to those policies, including the development of associated messaging materials and identification of key events and objectives in alignment with those policies.

Our Summer Internship Program from May-August or June-September provides you:

  • 1:1 mentorship
  • Fun and engaging events that inspire your intellectual curiosity
  • The opportunity to expand your knowledge and work on challenging projects
  • Connections to other interns and employees across the company as well as our leaders

Your Impact

  • Monitor global policy developments and assist in the management and upkeep of existing global policy and advocacy strategy trackers.
  • Conduct baseline research and analysis on identified policy priorities
  • Draft briefing memos and talking points; produce executive-level and other updates that inform a variety of internal and external communications
  • Attend Congressional hearings, conferences, and meetings to maintain company’s situational awareness of the global cybersecurity and broader policy environment (virtually as appropriate)
  • Develop thought leadership materials, communicating the value of our industry-leading technology and company’s policy perspective in numerous formats and forums, to include responding to government public comment opportunities, drafting letters, and writing blog
  • This work will cover activities to support the entire Global Policy Team, to include both U.S. domestic and international issues

Your Experience

  • Current Graduate student majoring in Public Policy or a related field
  • Strong research and writing skills, highly attentive to detail and quality
  • Analytic and strategic thinker with an ability to identify and articulate global geopolitical and technology trends and developments - and make connections to company-aligned strategic priorities and tactical opportunities
  • Highly collaborative team player, willing to take initiative
  • Background working specifically on cybersecurity and/or technology policy issues strongly preferred
  • To apply, you must be pursuing a 2-year Master's Degree or a Doctorate degree and returning to school in the fall
  • You must have the authorization to work within the United States. Please note that we will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position

Our Commitment

We’re trailblazers that dream big, take risks, and challenge cybersecurity’s status quo. It's simple: we can't accomplish our mission without diverse teams innovating, together.

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for all qualified individuals with a disability. If you require assistance or accommodation due to a disability or special need, please contact us at accommodations@paloaltonetworks.com .
