What are the responsibilities and job description for the SY 24-25 School Culture Specialist - RISE Academy position at RISE Academy?
RISE Academy is an alternative middle/high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school, grounded in restorative justice, that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency-based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever-changing world after high school.
We are seeking a School Culture Specialist to do the following:
Provide proactive, daily support to teachers, staff, and students to maintain high behavioral expectations;
Assist teachers, staff, students, and families in the effective creation and implementation of individual student support plans;
Reinforce the effective use of restorative practices.
Ability to collaborate in school-wide teams to support students' outcomes.
Be highly present and visible during school hours; and Implement a referral process into the restorative system to be used by staff, and develop a system for students to request circles
Attend professional development and staff meetings.
Schedule, facilitate, and document restorative conferences, mediations, and other types of conflict resolution circles.
Facilitate circles as deemed necessary.
Manage behavior in classroom and in common areas
Support teachers/staff as needed per the school needs.
Act as in-class behavioral support when needed.
Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria as needed.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A strong familiarity with the neighborhoods and community of Lawrence.
Ability to implement systems and follow up as needed.
