Position Summary:
The Classroom Behavior Support Coach works closely with teachers and staff to create a supportive environment where students can thrive. You'll use effective behavior management techniques and creative strategies to encourage positive interactions and build students' confidence.
Main Responsibilities:
- Behavioral Coaching & Support: Work alongside teachers to provide in-the-moment behavioral guidance to students from Pre-K to 12th grade, creating an encouraging and structured classroom environment.
- Data Tracking & Progress Monitoring: Collect and organize student progress notes and behavior data to help tailor support strategies that fit each student's unique needs.
- Collaboration & Training: Support instructional staff with classroom management techniques and assist with creating learning materials, based on each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Classroom & Playground Engagement: Monitor students' interactions, promote positive behavior, and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment during classroom and playground activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices and enhance your skills.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive student information.
- Support the school community by taking on other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in special education, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or working with children on the autism spectrum or with developmental delays.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of behavior management and motivational techniques for supporting students with special needs.
- Ability to collaborate with educators and adapt to various classroom settings.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, teachers, and staff.
- Certifications: Valid CPR/First Aid certification, passing score on the High School Basic Skills Proficiency Test, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, health screening, and TB clearance.
